AFJROTC

Aerospace Senior Instructor: Chief Antonio L. Cooper Welcome to AFJROTC
What AFJROTC Is
JROTC is a high school elective with an Air Force structure combining aspects of a military organization with classroom instruction, hands on leadership training and responsibilities plus opportunities for extracurricular team and community service participation. We believe in teamwork, expect cadets to be self-reliant and selfless & be involved in community service. Our drill teams are important but are not the only focus of the program. We have challenges for all cadets but cadets determine their level of involvement.
What AFJROTC is Not
The common misconception is all JROTC cadets plan to enter military service following graduation, either by enlisting, or by competing for a military academy appointment or university ROTC scholarship. In truth, only a handful of cadets will ever wear a military uniform after high school graduation.
JROTC does NOT recruit for the Armed Forces or
have any type of service obligation.
Most join JROTC for three reasons:
- Receive their physical education credit
- Participate in our after-school activities, events and trips
- Word of mouth...friends or siblings are in the program, and they've heard JROTC is fun
Our curriculum, leadership structure, focus on service and leadership development activities will help:
- Develop leadership skills
- Improve critical thinking
- Develop study habits and time management skills
- Improve written and oral communication skills
- Develop teamwork skills
- Build self esteem through accomplishment
- Require cadets to take responsibility for their own actions and choices
- Improve personal wellness of mind and body
