Each year West Stanly's Future Business Leaders of America look forward to competing at the State Leadership Conference. This year's conference had to be converted to fully virtual because of COVID-19. Still, West Stanly was able to enter in a few competitions with a short time limit and had several students recognized.
Josh Hazlett finished as a top 10 finalist in "Securities and Investments". This event consists of a written test that covers all areas of investments and finance.
Drew Speight and Ashlyn Hughes were also finalists in "Digital Video Production", where they had to create a commercial for a discount airline.
Skylar Rummage and Annalyce Medlin finished in third place in "Community Service Project". For their project they organized a 5k with proceeds going to a former classmate to help offset medical expenses in her fight against ovarian cancer.
