Elsa Armijos-ESL Teacher
I am very excited about this new 2018-2019 school year!! I teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in Albemarle High School, South Stanly High School and West Stanly High School (my home school).
My students are English Language Learners (ELLs) so the goal of the ESL program is to promote students to a full proficiency of the English language while they continue to work on their content classes through high school. Their level of English ranges from beginning or newcomers to advanced. ESL students receive sheltered content-based instruction in order to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening domains in English. We accomplish this goal through collaboration with classroom teachers by providing them with differentiated instruction in inclusion classes, one-on-one instruction or pull-outs according to students' unique needs and learning styles.
I am very appreciative of the support my students receive in all the schools I serve. Remember a smile is the same in all languages.
My schedule is:
Albemarle High School:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1st. and 2nd. blocks
South Stanly High School:
Tuesday and Thursday 1st. block and 2nd . blocks
West Stanly High School
Monday-Friday 3rd. and 4th blocks
